Freshman girl ask senior guy to Sadie Hawkins?

I don't know the guy very well, he is very shy and I have a huge crush on him. I can tell he likes me too. I've only talked to him (as in had a convo with him) once, but we smile at eachother a lot, and I said hi to him the other day. Sadie Hawkins is coming up, would it be weird to ask him? Also note I am a freshman girl and he is a senior guy? Thanks!
