Is there a way i can get my USB ports to function again?

sounds like the pins are bent in the ports. make sure that they are straight. also, another possibility is that they could be dirty; turn you laptop off and get a cotton bud/stick thing with some alcohol cleaner on it and lightly clean the metal contacts
