Should Israel be held to the same standard as other nations?

When I read the Jewish newspaper defending Israel for the latest macre of Palestinians they always say that Israel is held to a higher standard than other nations. Well yeah Israel is totally different than any other country in the world. Nowhere on earth is citizenship and social status determined by both religion and ethnicity. Jews are also the chosen people of God and should be held to a higher standard because of their higher morals and enlightened intellect. In my view and the majority of the global community view Israel as an illegal reenactment of the holocaust against the Palestinians. I think that the Jewish community has a lot of explaining to do. We in the US go to war for them, destroyed Germany, and Japan for them, saved their very lives from the Nazis and we get nothing in return but insults and derision.
