Hi- I have a Advent 9415 laptop - when I switch it on the opening screen freezes.?

I then have to switch it on and off up to 6 times until the blue loading line moves fully across the screen - then the laptop starts properly. Does anyone know why it keeps sticking, and anything I can do to remedy it? Thanks
