When hunting a job what is legitate over the internet?

I'm hunting the ideal job like all of us Americans, but I am so afraid to get involved with a company that is not what they portray. Where can I go to check out these scamming companys names and sniff out the legitate ones?I have been looking over the internet and there are so many but then you read on, and on and then the $69.95 fee pops up or you have to pay to get to a better level. So much crap, so please help or give some helpful advice. Thank U!
