Where do Atheists get their " moral code" or do they not have morals?

I am not an atheist, but can safely say that my atheist friends and colleagues are among some of the most moral people I've ever met. This is because morality and religion are two different issues. One need not be religious in order to have morals. If the only thing stopping a person from robbing and killing is a fear of punishment by a vengeful deity, then that individual needs serious psychological istance.
